The Press and Communications Office in London
The Greek Press and Communications Office in London assumes responsibility over the Embassy's media contacts and provides information on issues of political and cultural importance as well as policy matters associated with Greece.
In general, the Press and Communications Office:
- Communicates with and through a variety of media to promote Greek interests in the United Kingdom
- Provides information and responds to queries on Greek government policies
- Corresponds with journalists in the UK who request interviews and statements from Greek officials
- Support the visits of Greek officials to the UK vis-à-vis the media
- Manages cultural and information programs and events
- Liaise with and facilitates the work of Greek media based in the UK
- Handles filming and shooting permits in Greece by various British production and media companies
- Coordinates various exchange and hospitality programs to strengthen relationships that improve foreign insight into Greek society
- Cultivates relations with the Greek community in the UK
Publications
The Press and Communications Office in London publishes and distributes a monthly Newsletter; Greece: Background Information, which provides current information on news and developments in Greece.
It also produces and offers a wide range of printed material, from newsletters to booklets for children, which they distribute to different bodies or the wider public. These publications can be ordered free of charge upon request via email; mailto:pressoffice@greekembassy.org.uk.
The Secretariat General for Information
The Secretariat General for Information is based in Athens, Greece. It sets out and implements Greece’s public communication strategy abroad and oversees in total 34 Press and Communications Offices abroad. These offices operate within the framework of Greek Diplomatic Missions and serve as primary information links between Greece and the media, opinion leaders and the general public.
