    With the exception of Greek passports and visas, all other consular services, including Birth, Death & Marriage registrations, can be provided also  by the Greek Honorary Consulates in UK. Click on Contact us to find out which Greek Consular Office has jurisdiction for your area of residence.     REQUEST OF MUNICIPAL CERTIFICATES BY THE CONSULATE
    The municipal certificates (of Birth, Family status, Death, registration) must not be older than six months. Only certificates in original form are accepted. if you do not have an original or a recent one, the Consular Office may request it on your behalf, as long as you contact us at least one week prior to your scheduled appointment. You need to fill in, in GREEK, the application form, specifying the municipality you are registered with, as well as the type of certificate requested, and send it to us as attachment to the email address on the form, or fax it to the fax number found on the form. To download the application form  please click to download --> in    PDF format  or in    Word format   

    REGISTRATION OF BIRTHS


    • The FULL (including the names of the parents) birth certificate and two (2) photos of the child. Birth certificate must be duly legalized by an Apostille stamp by the competent British Authorities.

    • The passports of both parents. Greek citizens may alternatively produce their identity cards.
    • Certificate of registration in a Municipality in Greece of the Greek spouse/es (where the marriage must be shown as registered).
    • Greek parent must attend in person for the registration of the birth.      

    Provided that all documents are submitted the registration of a birth is conducted the same day.

    REGISTRATION OF DEATH OF GREEK NATIONALS

    • The Greek Passport or ID card of the deceased.
    • Certificate of registration of the deceased, in a Municipality in Greece.
    • Death certificate issued by the British Borough of the deceased. Death certificate must be duly legalized by an Apostille stamp by the competent British Authorities. Click here ---> Get a document Legalised for information regarding the procedure to legalize your certificate.
    • The Passport (or, for a Greek national the Greek ID card) of the person who declares the death. 

    Provided that all documents are submitted the registration of a death is conducted the same day .

     REPATRIATION OF THE DECEASED

    • Death certificate issued by the  British Borough of the deceased, dully legalized by an Apostille stamp by the competent British Authorities. Click here ---> Get a document Legalised for information regarding the procedure to legalize your certificate.
    • Death certificate issued by the Consulate (provided that the deceased was a Greek National).
    • Coroner’s certificate dully legalized by an Apostille stamp by the competent British Authorities (usually care of the Funeral Services Agency). Click here ---> Get a document Legalised for information regarding the procedure to legalize your certificate.
    • Embalmment certificate dully legalized by an Apostille stamp by the competent British Authorities (usually care of the Funeral Services Agency). Click here ---> Get a document Legalised for information regarding the procedure to legalize your certificate.
    • "Permission to exit UK" certificate issued by the relevant British Authority(usually care of the Funeral Services Agency).

    REPATRIATION OF THE CREMATION ASHES

    • Certificate of cremation dully legalized by an Apostille stamp by the competent British Authorities.

     REGISTRATION OF MARRIAGES IN UK
      • The passports of the newly married couple. Greek citizens may alternatively produce their Greek identity cards.
      • Certificate of registration in a Municipality in Greece of the Greek spouse/es.
      • Original marriage certificate from the British Authorities, duly legalized by an Apostille stamp by the competent British Authorities. Click here ---> Get a document Legalised for information regarding the procedure to legalize your certificate. 
      • Greek spouse must attend in person for the registration of the marriage.

      REGISTATION OF DIVORCE IN THE UK (IF DIVORCE IS ISSUED AFTER 01.03.2001)

      • Original family status certificate of the Greek spouse issued by the Municipality in Greece, where the marriage appears as registered (not older than 6 months).
      • Original Decree Absolute of the Divorce issued by the British Court – No translation required.
      • For church weddings: the Divorce Order issued by the parish where the wedding was performed.
      • Passports or Greek ID cards of both spouses.
      • Greek spouse must attend in person for the registration of the divorce. If both spouses are Greek, only one of them needs to be present.

      Provided that all documents are submitted, the divorce is registered on the same day.

      If the divorce is issued prior to the above mentioned date (01.03.2001), it can be registered only in Greece, care of the Greek national, so that the competent Greek Court may certify the validity of the foreign Court Divorce Order.

      CIVIL MARRIAGE IN THE CONSULATE
      • Application for a civil marriage in the Consulate.
      • Marriage licenses
      • For the Greek citizens the marriage license is issued by the Municipality where he/she is registered in Greece.
      • For the non Greeks, who are marrying Greek citizens, by the relevant authority of their country.
      • The passports of the future spouses.
      • Two witnesses (holding valid passports) must attend the wedding

      In case one of the future spouses is not a Greek citizen, a certificate of no-impediment is also required. This is issued by the competent Authorities of the country of origin. The country of origin also issues the marriage license and the certificate of birth. All the above documents need to be dully legalized (Apostille stamp) by the competent Authorities of the country of origin, and dully translated in Greek.
