NON GREEK ORIGIN ALIENS
Aliens of non Greek origin, spouses of Greek nationals, are not entitled to apply for naturalization, as above, at a Greek Consular Authority. They need to reside in Greece in order to have their application examined.
The naturalization procedure for non Greek origin aliens is conducted in Greece and legal residence in Greece for ten years (or three years if there are children) in the last twelve years, is required.
For more information please contact the relevant department of the Consulate General (tel. 02073135616).
Persons that satisfy the above law must initially declare their wish to be naturalised as Greek citizens by lodging a Naturalisation Declaration with the Greek Consul at their place of residence. Please note that the Consular authority appropriate to receive a ‘Naturalisation Declaration’ can only be the district where the person concerned resides permanently. (No other Greek Consular authority is authorised to receive application or declaration for naturalisation).
