The General Secretariat of Communication – General Secretariat of Information (GSC-GSI) -through the Press and Communications Office - provides British Media Organizations with the necessary facilities and support for filming in Greece.
Media representatives, can obtain, through the Embassy’s Press and Communications Office, a General Filming Permit (document issued by the GSC-GSI) requesting from Greek civil and police authorities to facilitate the work of film crews or photographers in Greece.
Holders of the General Filming Permit are allowed to film/photograph in public areas, as long as the common decency is not offended and the regular traffic of pedestrians and vehicles is not obstructed.
As internationally applied, a special permit, issued by the competent authorities, is required for filming in archeological sites / museums, in military / harbor installations, in border areas as well as for underwater and aerial filming. In some locations, fees for filming may be required.
Media representatives who wish to film/photograph in Greece should apply to the Press and Communications Office sending a letter (or e-mail) from the applicant (producer, media representative etc.) stating the following:
- The exact dates and filming locations
- Full names and passport numbers of filming crew members
- The name of the person in charge of the filming crew
- General information about the production
